O Christmas Tree!

November 28, 2015

Admittedly one of my favourite activities of the season; putting up the Christmas tree marks the reality that Christmas is just round the corner, and that gets me overwhelmingly excited!!
This year, we’ve gone with a Red & White theme for our tree. I love going through our boxes of Christmas decorations and finding things that I didn’t even know we had!

All the photographs featured in this post are taken with my Fujifilm X-A2 compact camera.

How are you decorating your tree this Christmas?

Smell The Flowers

November 20, 2015

I feel like I need to take more time to appreciate the natural world. It’s so refreshing to just relax and enjoy the scenery sometimes, even if it is just your back garden. There’s a quote from Walter Hagen that says
“You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”
I’m so inspired by that, I hope you are too.

Milan

November 7, 2015

Last week, I spent 3 days with my mum and sister in Milan. Even though it’s regarded as one of the the fashion capitals of the world, I had heard mixed reviews of the city beforehand so I was intrigued to explore it for myself. But being a true city girl, I knew I was going to like it there. The first thing that struck me when I arrived (apart from the immaculately dressed locals) was the distinctive contrast of colour; rich golden-browns of the historic Italian architecture amongst the cold urban greys of innumerable office buildings.

Of course for any tourist in Milan, food and shopping are number one on the agenda – precisely summing up most of our time there – I’m talking 6 meals a day, not even including the multiple pit-stop cappuccino breaks, and several walks up and down Via Torino with hands full of shopping!

Having planned weeks ahead where I wanted to go, all of that went out the window when we were actually there. As it turns out, 3 days really wasn’t enough time to cover everything on my pretty extensive list… but at least that gives me an excuse to visit again, eh? I hope you enjoy my endeavour to capture the essence of this fascinating city in these photographs.

Ciao,
